|One of my more popular winter shots, I liked the way the sky and the river kind of follow the same path through the trees|
|I get asked often what my favorite photo of mine is... I think this is it. For many reasons, but mostly because I took it with intentions of it being a powerful image of the wall, able to show the vast amount of names on the wall while only showing partial names. the DOF worked out exactly as I planned, and everything just fell into place from there.|

The Essence of Winter (Contest) WinnersI along with some of the other judges had a very difficult time choosing the winners and I would have loved to have had more prizes to give out, but I just can't afford to do much more than this. The Essence of Winter (Contest) Winners by tjparson
Aside from linksbane and me, there were another two judges who helped us narrow down the selection. Thank you AshleyxBrooke and ashleigha for your help.
Winter is the time of year when "shit is cold," as one of wise co-workers states. It is the time of the year when we all dress up in extra clothes or travel to escape the cold. For me, the Essence of Winter can be shown through any means that says to the viewing audience, "this shit is cold." I called upon all of you to show me some "cold shit," but some of you showed me other things that winter makes you think of, such as, "this cold shit is pretty!" Some of showed that starkness of winter with black and whites. Others showed the winds of winter. And one of you showed something none of us (judges) could figure out to save our

Adopt A Newbie Today!WHO WE AREAdopt A Newbie Today! by AdoptANewbie
AdoptANewbie is a new club formed by a few members of iPhotograph, it's affiliate.
WHAT WE DO
In brief, we are a mentor - newbie program specializing in teaching photography to people who wish to learn it. How is this achieved, you ask? Well, the process goes a little something like this: We, the founders of the club, handpick our first set of mentors who will then be paired up with newbies, who sign up for the program via a journal. Mentors then teach the newbie the skills that they need to become a better photographer in whatever it is they want to learn about photography. Portrait photography, street photography, macro, you name it, we'll teach it! Once newbies have been officially "graduated" by their mentors, they have the chance of becoming a mentor themselves! Mentors can also recommend fellow photographers who they think have the skills and the drive to teach newcomers.
OK, THIS SOUNDS COOL, BUT WHAT ELSE IS THERE?<
